New Finds

We used the monetary donations we received after our big delivery in a few ways. We donated to the USO, we sent care packages to a Marine unit deployed to Afghanistan (via AnyMarine) and we also sent a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project. Yesterday, in the mail, we received a nice letter from the Wounded Warrior Project thanking us for our donation. It was nice to know the received our donation. They also provided us with more information if we’d like to continue to donate. If you want make a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project you can learn more on their website.

While reading the news today on CNN’s website, I stumbled across this article: Injuries don’t stop vets from skiing, snowboarding. It’s pretty cool. It’s awesome to see that snow sports are incorporated int rehabilitation for some vets. It’s important to stay active and what better way to do that than getting back into a sport they loved or learning a totally new sport. I love seeing stories like this.

Also, I recently stumbled across a film called Not Yet Begun to Fight. Not Yet Begun to Fight is about retired Marine Colonel Eric Hastings who says fly-fishing healed him when he came back from Vietnam in 1969. Colonel Hastings reaches out to 5 servicemen returning from war and introduces them to the joys of being on the water and fly-fishing to help heal them from the tolls of war. Check out the website to view the trailer and learn more. You can also follow them on Facebook.

I truly am in awe when I learn of all the things people do to help our veterans. Love it.

Enjoy!

Toughness

Wow, what a great response to the Etsy posts! Thank you!

As usual, I came across a few more awesome articles and organizations to post… Check out the links!

This is just…Wow… POW Blinking Morse Code ‘T-O-R-T-U-R-E’

Just saw a commercial for this: USO Invisible Wounds

The Wounded Warrior Project had a Soldier Ride over the weekend that started in Miami and ended in Key West. Vets had the chance to hang with some dolphins. Pretty cool if you ask me. Here’s an article about it: Wounded Warrior Project Unites Veterans And Dolphins In Three-Day Ride

Here are a few pretty cool photos from Tough Mudder’s Facebook Page from a recent Tough Mudder in Arizona.

Hell yeah!

Awesome.

So cool! I need to get in shape so I can run a Tough Mudder some day. Looks like fun!

“Our Turn to Serve”

Recently when I was out to eat at a local restaurant, I reached for the ketchup and notices on the Heinz Ketchup bottle it said “Our Turn To Serve.” So, I gave it a closer look.

This is what the ketchup bottle looks like… Maybe you’ve seen these already…

(Pictures from philanthropyink.com)

Anyway, I think this is a pretty cool thing for Heinz to do. Team up with the USO and Wounded Warrior Project to thank our vets. The back of the bottle mentions ways to help along with their website. You can send a thank you note to a vet through Heinz’s website and they are also donating 57 cents to the Wounded Warrior Project for every thank you note sent and for every ‘Like’ on their Facebook page.

Easy ways to help out. Easy ways for you to get involved. It only takes a few minutes to do. Get on it!

Thank you, Heinz Ketchup, for supporting our troops.
